: Teaching Statement 3 MS and PhD Student Supervision

I see my role in the classroom as one of structuring the class experience so that the students have the tools, confidence, and interest in the subject matter to perform well in my class and in their future endeavors. I approach the challenge of teaching by 1) having high expectations of students, 2) pushing students to take an active role in their own education, and 3) showing students that their classroom experience relates to what they have already learned and that it will be relevant to their future classes and careers.
